headaches
Joshua Poon asked:

Healing headaches with the power of your mind is not only possible, it is also natural. While you can take an aspirin or other pain killers to help ease a headache, doctors have warned there are many side effects. Besides these, there are other methods and internal process you can take to help ease the pain. You can use these approaches and methods along side with any medication you may be taking from a doctor.

First off, start thinking in terms of transforming the headache, instead of getting rid of it. Getting rid of it just adds more mental noise and judgment. Divert your concentration from the headache to transmuting it.

Lets explore what is a headache. Do not explore your idea of it, instead explore it. Feel it. It is there right? Feel it. Get a sense of the sensation. Go into it. It has been said many times that what you resist persists, and what you embrace you can erase. Approach your headache in this way. Give in to it.

Giving into it is surrendering to the fact that you have a headache. It does not mean you are being self-destructive. This does not mean you truly want to feel pain. It just means that you want to accept the pain that you are feeling now.

Acceptance opens the door for a more spacious feeling in your brain. Acceptance of a headache fuels a sensation of openness, and that is what brings about the healing. Openness is peace of mind. Openness is a calmness that surrounds the headache. Feel a sense of openness amidst the headache. This is how you heal headaches.

Healing headaches is not difficult, because openness is your natural resting state of awareness. Openness is like the ocean; your headache is like a floating piece of seaweed. Rest in the ocean and the headache will become far less intense.

So, the trick to healing headaches is to let the seaweed (headache) float in a sea of awareness. Be the observer of your headache, instead of being trapped in it. Being trapped in a headache is the pain. Stepping outside of the headache is freedom from it.

The best time to practice this is when you do not have a headache. Pretend that you do have one, from time to time. This may sound strange but it works. Feel your head. Feel as if you have a headache and then try to get a sense of being larger than the headache.

Then, next time you have a real headache, you will have gained some skills. Healing headaches happens when you become bigger than the pain. NO bigger in the sense of being able to withstand the pain; just bigger in the sense of feeling bigger, feeling more expansive.

At a certain point you may find taking an aspirin is not necessary anymore.

The pain is in the back of my neck on the right side and goes around to the front. I have taken all the tylenol I can swallow. I can’t take advil or mortin, i’m allergic to it. I got very little sleep last night and probably won’t get a nap today. Any tips on how to get it to stop hurting?
Ok, it’s more in the back of my head than in my actual neck. Lower right side kinda where head and neck meet.

Britt asked:

A friend has Hepatitis C. Her liver is weak due to the Hep C. I looked up a list of things she should be avoiding and taking more of.She’s not supposed to take acetaminophen or ibuprofen because it weakens the liver. However, she got a really bad headache today and couldn’t take anything to relieve the pain. Any ideas for home remedies to relieve headaches or any other medicines she can take?
Any advice would be appreciated.

kalidas asked:

The medical community has identified a set of well defined headache categories. The first category, that of the primary headache, is experienced by almost everyone throughout their lives. The primary headache is by far the most common kind of headache, and is by definition not life threatening, nor indicative of any kind of neurological problem. The cluster headache category causes far more pain and affects only a small segment of the population. Cluster headaches are so called because of the random groupings in which they occur. Patients can go without an attack for years at a time before suddenly experiencing a rash of cluster headaches. Secondary headaches are classified as symptoms of a deeper neurological issue, such as internal bleeding, tumor growth, or chemical imbalance in the brain. Cluster headaches and secondary headaches occur on a much less frequent basis than primary headaches.

The common stress headache falls into the primary category. Although not at all rare or life threatening, the stress headache become an impediment to the enjoyment of daily life. In some cases, the common stress headache can become quite uncomfortable. It is important that these cases be resolved as quickly as possible to avoid serious discomfort. The first step in treatment is knowing the source of the issue.

Stress headache is believed to actually result from a contraction of the muscles surrounding the skull. The added pressure from this contraction introduces a painful and uncomfortable sensation. The problem has nothing to do with any neurological issue, but rather with the tightness around the skull.

The tightening of the muscles around the skull can usually be identified as a band like feeling just above the eyes. This is the first sign of stress headache, and can be a good time to administer preventive measures like a dosage of Ibuprofen or Aleve. To actually prevent stress headache more effectively, the underlying causes should be examined. If stress headache occurs on a fairly regular basis, it can be assumed that some life circumstance is to blame. Stress management can be an important component of any treatment. Changes should be made to lifestyle choices that trigger stress headache, or manage them more effectively, and stress headache may be reduced. If pain persists in a chronic fashion, this may be a sign of another, more complex issue that should be treated by a specialist.

So I’ve had really bad headaches for a really long time. I have a headache going on its ninth day stratight now. Aspirin, Tylenol, and store-brand drugs don’t work; Advil barely works; I can’t find any headache cures that work for longer than a day or two, tops. Sometimes I have to go lie down they’re so bad. This has been going on for almost a year and a half. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

headaches
Peter James Field asked:

s experience headaches from time to time. Usually they just fade away after a fairly brief period and then they are gone, with no real damage done. Chronic headaches, however, ones that recur with regularity can really interfere with our healthy functioning, affecting our relationships and work life and seriously compromising us in so many areas of our existence. It’s important to remember that if a severe headache lasts for 24 hours or more, or if it is accompanied by vomiting or blurred vision, then you need to visit your doctor immediately. Generally speaking, there are two different kinds of headache - tension and cluster. (Migraine is something more than a headache and will be treated in a seperate article.) Speaking from a strictly medical perspective, the actual cause of both these types of headache is unknown. Often though, tension headaches are exactly what the name suggests. They seem to be triggered by stress and tension, anxiety, depression and emotional discomfort. Poor posture can also play a part in the onset of this kind of headache, as can really bright light, food sensitivities, menstrual periods and even the weather. Painkillers such as aspirin, paracetamol and ibuprofen can often help with the milder kind of headache, but the body can easily become habituated to these pharmaceuticals, greatly reducing their effectiveness. Also, withdrawal headaches can occur when these substances are withdrawn. Cluster headaches also sometimes appear to be triggered by such things as alcohol, odours and changes in temperature. Of course, they can just as simply appear with no clear and apparent reason at all. This particular kind of headache just doesn’t respond well to over the counter medication. Drugs available on a doctor’s prescription include Sumatriptan and Ergotamine, but these powerful pharmaceuticals, like most others, can have considerable side-effects. How much better it would be if we were able to access our own inner ability to manage headaches, rather than having to depend on some external chemical substance for relief. And it is here that modern hypnotherapy can be or real assistance and value. With expertly delivered modern hypnotherapy your own subconscious mind can be taught to manage headaches without recourse to external medications and drugs. Through advanced transformational hypnotherapy you can learn how to turn any headache into an insubstantial mist that can simply be exhaled and dissipated, leaving you free to continue your day with a clear mind. In hypnosis you can learn to recognise the headache triggers before they occur - and then do something about them. You can learn to reverse the process that actually generates the headache, thereby putting you in control and fully empowering you. Headaches really don’t need to ruin your day or control your enjoyment of it. With the right kind of hypnotherapy you can draw a line under the pain and inconvenience of headaches and get on with your life.

Ethan asked:

Or is the success dependent on other factors, such as the placebo effect and the fact that headaches usually go away after a certain period, regardless of taking the headache tablet or not?

How do the headache tablets work exactly? What areas of the body do they influence?

Thanks for information. I was just curious.
